The storm front that passed over Saxony on Monday caused significant damage in some places. In Chemnitz-Einsiedel, too, the storm didn't do things by halves. Several trees were uprooted, including a large tree that fell directly onto the roof of the local high school. In Zittau, the storm also caused chaos with fallen trees, especially in Zwilling-Scholl-Straße and Kummersberg. But here too, the emergency services were quickly on site and were able to repair the storm damage without anyone being injured.
The situation was particularly dramatic in the state capital Dresden. On Monday morning at 6:47 a.m. lightning struck the roof of an apartment building on Bolivar Street. The fire department was on the scene quickly and showed no mercy against the flames in the roof area. They had to work both from the inside and with a turntable ladder to contain the fire. Luckily there were no injuries; All residents were able to get to safety in time.
