From Monday, October 27th, new construction projects are planned in the city of Zwickau, which pose a challenge for many drivers and pedestrians. How Blick.de reported, there are several construction sites that affect both the streets and sidewalks and will affect traffic routing.
Jüdenhainer Straße will be completely closed between the forest path (upper part) and the farm path in front of the S 286. The reason for this is dead branches, which pose a safety risk. This closure is expected to last until October 30th. Residents should bring their waste bins to the junction with Kiesweg, as rubbish can only be disposed of up to there.
Extended construction work on several streets
Another important construction site is on Marienthaler Straße, where the sidewalk between house number 149 and Bülaustraße will remain closed until October 30th. A ground cable is being replaced here, forcing pedestrians to use an emergency route on the road. Safety is also an issue on Helmholtzstrasse, where the street between the roundabout and house number 34 is completely closed due to broadband expansion. There will be a partial closure outside the active construction sites. This work is expected to last until November 21, 2025.
Steinpleiser Straße is also affected: the half-way closure between Virchowplatz and the roundabout remains in place. The reason is a ceiling renovation, and the one-way street regulation applies in the direction of Steinpleis. Traffic heading into the city will be rerouted via the S 293 and the Plauener Straße exit; the construction work is scheduled to last until November 9th.

But it's not just these roads that are affected by restrictions. A large number of further construction sites are expected in the next few weeks, which could make your journey through Zwickau more difficult:
- Schlachthofstraße: Vollsperrung bis zum 14. November (Fahrbahnerneuerung).
- Äußere Zwickauer Straße: Halbseitige Sperrung bis 29. Oktober (Trinkwasserhausanschluss).
- Innere Zwickauer Straße: Halbseitige Sperrung bis zum 2. November (Erneuerung Trinkwasserhausanschluss).
- Schneppendorfer Straße: Vollsperrung bis zum 7. November (Glasfaserausbau).
- Wilkauer Straße: Halbseitige Sperrung bis zum 30. Oktober (Verlegung Nieder- und Mittelspannung).
- Heinrich-Heine-Straße: Vollsperrung bis zum 15. Dezember (Erneuerung Trinkwasserleitung und Straßenbau).
