On Monday afternoon there was a serious accident involving a Seat Cupra on Autobahn 72 near Zwickau. The 57-year-old driver left the road around 4:20 p.m. and overturned his vehicle. The incident not only caused significant damage, but also required the use of a rescue helicopter to take the injured driver to hospital. The police estimated the property damage at around 31,000 euros, but were unable to provide any reliable information about the exact cause of the accident on Tuesday morning, reports the Freie Presse.
The Autobahn 72, which runs through the picturesque Vogtland, connects Saxony and Bavaria and is known for its impressive transport architecture, such as the Elstertal Bridge, one of the largest stone bridges in Europe.
