Dramatic handball weekend: Neckarsulm wins at the last second!
The 6th matchday of the women's handball Bundesliga brought us exciting encounters and dramatic twists. Today, October 25, 2025, Borussia Dortmund started with a weather-related away win against Buxtehuder SV, which could be of great importance for the league standings. After an up and down game, Dortmund won 34:29. At halftime they were behind 15:17, but the second half clearly went to the guests.
In another basement duel in the league, HSG Bensheim/Auerbach showed an impressive turnaround against BSV Sachsen Zwickau at half-time. After trailing by 16:18 at halftime, Bensheim turned the game around with a 5-0 run and ultimately won 43:38 in front of 498 spectators. Here it becomes clear that anything is possible in handball and the spectators got their money's worth.
Close derbies and clear victories
Another highlight was the exciting derby between Sport-Union Neckarsulm and Frisch Auf Göppingen. Neckarsulm was clearly leading 19:11 at halftime and was even ahead by nine goals in the 36th minute. But Göppingen didn't give up and were able to equalize in the 56th minute! However, the winning goal for Neckarsulm only came five seconds before the final whistle, which brought the spectators in the hall to their feet.
In the duel between Thüringer HC and VfL Oldenburg, the superiority of the hosts became clear. Thüringer HC clearly triumphed with 34:23 and showed themselves to be physically and strategically strong, especially in the first half, which they won 19:11. This shows that THC is well on its way to establishing itself in the league.
The unexpected turns and the table
It also remains exciting for SV Union Halle-Neustadt, who lost against TuS Metzingen 33:38. With this defeat, the Halle-Neustadt team is still waiting for their first win of the season. Metzingen was already leading 18:13 at halftime and couldn't miss the win. Such developments could be neither helpful nor promising for the teams in the bottom half of the table.
