Crafts are flourishing: 9.5% more apprenticeship contracts in Chemnitz in 2025!

By June 30, 2025, a total of 1,374 apprenticeships had been registered here, which corresponds to a pleasing increase of 9.5 percent compared to the previous year. With 311 contracts concluded, automotive mechatronics engineers are the most sought-after trainees. Electronics engineers are also very popular – 145 contracts speak for themselves. The list of the most popular training occupations is supplemented by system mechanic for SHK technology with 99 and carpenter with 56 contracts. Specialist salespeople in the food trade and carpenters are also not left out with 42 contracts each. Radio Zwickau reports that a total of 71 different professions are represented with training contracts this year, despite 581 open training positions that are currently advertised in the online apprenticeship exchange of the Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts.

In addition, 91 companies that are offering training for the first time this year are a sign of a breath of fresh air in the craft sector. Among the high school graduates, 155 young people have now signed an apprenticeship contract in the skilled trades. This shows that academically oriented school graduates are increasingly appreciating the diverse opportunities offered by dual training. The Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts sees great potential here to equip the next generation with the necessary skills for future-proof professions.
