HSG Blomberg-Lippe takes top spot after a convincing victory!

An exciting Saturday for handball fans provides a breath of fresh air in the Bundesliga: On the second matchday of the women's handball Bundesliga, HSG Blomberg-Lippe was crowned the new front runner. With a solid 31:25 win against TuS Metzingen they take the lead in the table. This is exactly what Handball World observed and reported that Nieke Kühne and Selina Lindemann were the standout players of the game with six goals each.

The game started with a clear advantage for HSG Blomberg-Lippe, who were able to pull away to 6:3 after just nine minutes with a 3-0 run. However, TuS Metzingen did not allow themselves to be discouraged and fought their way back to within one goal, which resulted in the score being 11:10 in the 22nd minute. With a narrow 14:13 for HSG, the half-time break went into halftime, as WDR reports. After the break, Blomberg-Lippe set the course for victory and scored a 5-1 run that increased the score to 19:14 in the 38th minute. This lead was securely defended in the period that followed.

But there were exciting games not only in Blomberg. HSG Bensheim/Auerbach was also able to celebrate. With their 37:34 win against Frisch Auf Göppingen, the victory was hard-fought. Nina Engel scored an impressive 11 goals, while her teammate Mia Ziercke contributed nine goals. On the Göppingen side, Haruno Sasaki shone with seven goals, but Sina Ehmann had to leave the field early after a red card.

The duel between Thüringer HC and Buxtehuder SV ended in a draw – 29:29. An exciting game of the century with three red cards for Luca Farago, Annika Niederwieser and Giulia Guariero, who were all sent off by the referee due to their third time penalty. Johanna Reichert from THC showed a strong performance with 9 goals, while Buxtehude's Levke Kretschmann scored 6 goals to keep her team in the game.

New date and a look ahead

Another exciting duel took place between SV Union Halle-Neustadt and Sport-Union Neckarsulm. Sport-Union prevailed here with 31:29, thanks to outstanding goals from Munia Smits and Antje Döll, who both scored 8 goals each. Cara Reuthal on the Halle-Neustadt side ensured that the game remained open for a long time with 11 goals.

Next week it will be that time again for HSG Blomberg-Lippe: on September 13th they will face Thüringer HC at 5 p.m. Another exciting match where the fans should get their money's worth. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund has no games and is using the time to play in the Champions League. On Sunday they face Györi ETO KC, and the fans' eyes are on the Helmut-Körnig-Halle.
