That's less than 0.1 percent of the population. As the daily news reported, these people are neither insured nor covered by other legal regulations.
What is particularly striking is that75 percent of the uninsured are unemployedare. This primarily includes pensioners and students who are over the age of 26. The majority of this group is male – almost 61 percent, which corresponds to around 44,000 men. These figures come from the microcensus, the most comprehensive annual household survey in Germany.

However, the actual number of people without health insurance could be higher. Estimates range from500,000 to 1 million people, which may not be taken into account due to self-disclosure or not being recorded in the system. According to the Berlin newspaper have additionallyAnother 198,000 people are entitled to health care but also do not have health insurance. This group includes, for example, asylum seekers and social assistance recipients.
