Promote volunteerism: Thuringia will provide millions in funds in 2026!
There is good news for everyone in Altenburger Land who is involved in volunteer work. In 2026, the Thuringian Volunteer Foundation will continue to provide financial resources to support the valuable work of volunteers. Applications can be submitted until October 31, 2025, and the central contact point for funding applications is the Altenburger Land district volunteer office at Lindenaustraße 9. How abg-info.de reports, the funds are available as part of an annual funding program that has been promoting the various facets of volunteer work since 2004.
The funding has clear goals: It should not only provide financial support, but also make the valuable work of volunteers visible and recognized. For 2026, projects to attract young talent, events, material costs and qualification measures in the volunteer sector are particularly sought-after funding goals.
The path is clear for applicants
But how does the whole thing work? Application forms can be picked up directly from the volunteer office or downloaded online at www.altenburgerland.de. It is important that applications are submitted completely and on time - this is the only way they have a chance of being considered. Volunteer representative Jörg Seifert can answer questions about the application process on 03447 586-249.
Furthermore, the Thuringian Voluntary Work Act, which was passed in 2024, created new framework conditions. This law regulates the support of civic engagement and provides 15 million euros annually for funding provided by the state. This will be reported in another message from thueringer-ehrenamtsstiftung.de clarified.
Additional funding opportunities
But that's not all: The Thuringian Voluntary Foundation also offers a variety of other funding programs. Individuals, groups and legal entities (e.g. clubs) can receive up to 50,000 euros to support projects in areas such as homeland, democracy, customs and culture, as well as sport and education. Applications for 2025 had to be submitted by September 15, and the deadline for 2026 is from December 1, 2025 to April 15, 2026. According to sociokultur-thueringen.de Emergency situations, for example emergencies through no fault of your own, are also eligible.
Good news for all those involved: Applications are only possible digitally, which should make the process much easier. The Thuringian State Administration Office is therefore the responsible body for project funding.
In summary, volunteering in the Altenburger Land is not only an indispensable part of social life, but also receives the necessary support through the various support measures in Thuringia to remain lively and active in the future.
