Experience the mountain man's day: Rositz celebrates its mining for 350 years!

in Rositz will be celebrated on Sunday, July 6, 2025: the day of the miner, which is under the motto "350 years of mining in Rositz" this year. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the
Mountain brothers Meuselwitz-Rositz brown coal area, the municipality of Rositz and the industrial union mining, chemistry, energy residential group Altenburg invite you to celebrate the heir and the tradition of mining in the region.

The event takes place in the picturesque Bernsteinhof Rositz and promises a colorful program for young and old. The starting signal is a mining-musical morning pint at 10:00 a.m. From 11:00 a.m. there will be a small mineral and mining exchange, while the Heimatscheune of the Rositz home club opens its gates from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and presents a special exhibition on the subject of "Rositzer shops". In addition, on tours with the old Landini and in the afternoon you can look forward to a appearance of the dialect group from the "Zwergenstübchen".

Another highlight is the concert of the Zeitzer Blasmusikerten, which begins at 3:00 p.m. For the little visitors there is a rich offer with a bouncy castle, a treasure hunt and painting briquettes. The gastronomic offer is impressive: homemade cakes, rosers and steaks from the local judo sports club and the mountain brothers are on the menu. And the best thing about it? Admission is free!

This celebration is aimed not only at the citizens of Rositz, but in particular at the buddies, craftsmen and employees of the former carbon industry. It is an invitation to make old friends and to maintain the connection to the mining tradition.

Mining highlight in the region

The region can look back on a hundred years of history of lignite mining. For those interested, there is already the opportunity to look around in the Technical Museum on the museum track of the coal railway in Meuselwitz . Technical systems, mining exhibits and historical trains are exhibited there, which illustrate the exciting development of the mining. The permanent exhibition of the mountain brothers includes, among other things, the history of energy generation from lignite and the development from the open -cast mine to the briquette factory.

The museum is open every Sunday, with plan rides of the coal railway from around 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Individual visits are possible after ordering, and here too it is free to admission - however, donations to maintain the mining tradition are welcome.
