Daycare centers in Altenburger Land: Quality offensive for better care!
Something is happening in the area of quality development in daycare centers in Altenburger Land. A new training program recently brought together educators from the cities of Nobitz, Schmölln and Meuselwitz to systematically improve the quality of early childhood education. The initiative was brought to life by Jane Kasel, an experienced daycare specialist advisor from the Altenburger Land district office. The program entitled “Quality in daycare centers” (QuiK) is based on the “National Catalog of Criteria” (PädQUIS), which was developed by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs and is tailored to the needs of the facilities in the region. The aim is to develop practice-oriented quality goals, which are formulated in a total of eight working meetings according to the proven 7-step process. Topics such as “getting children settled in” and “meals and nutrition” are the focus, according to abg-info.de.
The QuiK program has already contributed to the structural development of educational work. After the eight meetings have been completed, a handover event will take place on March 19, 2025 with sponsoring representatives, at which certificates will be handed over to the specialists and daycare centers. The event also becomes infamous because of the musical accompaniment from the Altenburger Land Music School. Another run of the program is planned for the end of 2025, and interested daycare centers can register now.
Quality management in daycare centers
Quality in daycare centers is not a sure-fire success and is now more than ever recognized as crucial. The area of quality management (QM) in daycare centers is constantly increasing and there are a wide variety of methods and systems that aim to evaluate and improve educational quality. The QuiK system represents only one aspect of numerous existing QM initiatives, as nifbe.de shows.
One of the cornerstones in quality development is the PädQUIS, which includes an extensive QM system that covers 20 quality areas such as management, settling in and parent work. Various modules and materials enable internal evaluation and help to implement the regulations in everyday practice. The system also brings with it basic standards that are crucial for the optimal development of the little ones.
Further training for quality managers
Functioning quality management not only brings benefits for children's education, it also increases satisfaction among employees and ensures an efficient flow of information between educators and parents. In order to establish such standards, the “Quality Officer in Daycare Centers” course, which can be completed online and flexibly, can be helpful. This course, as can be found on faps-fernstudium.de, not only imparts relevant knowledge for quality development, but also promotes the documentation of goals and their implementation in the team, right up to external audits.
In summary, it can be said that ongoing training and the implementation of quality goals in daycare centers not only benefit the children, but also make a significant contribution to the professionalization of educators. With the closer exchange and targeted measures, the Altenburger Land can look forward to positive developments in early childhood education.
