Fairytale reading for children: Unlucky Prince meets Lucky Dragon!
On October 24, 2025 the time has come: The Schmölln City and District Library invites you to a magical fairytale adventure on Library Day. From 2 p.m. the author Dorothee Eva Herrmann, also known as DoroFee, will present her new book “The Unlucky Prince and His Lucky Dragon”. The reading is aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 8 and promises an unforgettable experience with gentle harp sounds that bring the stories to life.
In the exciting story, an unlucky prince sets out on an adventurous search for his missing lucky dragon. This heart of the book is not only popular with little ones, but also encourages children's imagination. The event, which is free, is accompanied by a musical setting with a harp, which will certainly offer a new experience to many little listeners. There is also the opportunity to get in touch with the author directly during a question and answer session and, if necessary, even try out the harp yourself.
Importance of libraries
Library Day has a major goal: to spotlight the importance of libraries as places of education, culture and encounters. Public libraries in Germany have changed significantly since the 1990s and are now an integral part of the social infrastructure. They not only serve specific user groups, but are also open to the general public. There are around 3,900 municipal public libraries in Germany, covering around 44% of all municipalities. Many of these libraries are run by volunteers, especially in rural areas where access to cultural offerings is not always possible.
The libraries offer a wide range of information and entertainment options that are accessible to all age groups and social classes. Cultural education in libraries is becoming increasingly important and is perceived as a key to social participation. In this context, DoroFee's reading at the Schmölln City Library is a welcome opportunity to raise awareness of the role of libraries as places of education.
A call to participate
The event is sponsored by the Friedrich-Bödecker-Kreis Thüringen e.V. and the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. Organizers hope for numerous visitors who want to immerse themselves in the world of fairy tales with open ears and hearts. The day will be a chance not only for the children but also for the parents to rediscover the magic of reading and get to know the library's diverse offerings.
Anyone who is enthusiastic about an exciting fairy tale adventure and would like to strengthen their connection to the literary scene in rural areas should mark October 24, 2025 in their calendar. A fairytale reading trip awaits you in the Schmölln city and district library.
