Erfurt becomes cleaner: Biotonne now with high pressure and stainless steel!
This day, July 14, 2025, the city of Erfurt informs the citizens: inside the current handling of the biotonne. As usual, the biotons are provided for disposal, but this time there is a special feature: on the regular empty days, they are not only emptied, but also flushed out thoroughly. This cleaning takes place with hot water and the latest high -pressure technology, which is a hygienic disposal method. A new special vehicle was purchased for this, which is designed for all common barrel sizes of 80 to 1,100 liters. Long -standing stainless steel components are used that ensure a long service life.
An important aspect of this cleaning is that the dirty water is collected in the vehicle and disposed of separately. However, it could occur at high temperatures or with great utilization that some disposal tours are not fully carried out. In such cases, the city of Erfurt sends a second vehicle to catch up.
importance of the separate collection
The separate collection of organic waste is not only economical, but also environmentally friendly. The guidelines for the bio bin are determined by the respective municipalities and depend on the planned recycling of the organic waste. According to the consumer center, the biggest problem with the recovery is that plastic always gets into organic waste. Only compostable “organic” plastic and further waste in the bio bin if the municipality allows this. As a consumer, you have to be particularly careful!
From May 1, 2025, a maximum of three percent of the biomae may contain foreign substances, while disposable can only process organic waste with a maximum of one percent plastics. These are not easy guidelines because the pressure on consumers increases to separate their organic waste consistently and within the variety. The waste that does not include the bio bin include cat litter, ash and hygiene articles. Vegetable and fruit stitches, on the other hand, are welcome.
innovation meets sustainability
The promotion of the circular economy is a central goal of politics. As part of the circular economy law, all cities and municipalities are obliged to record organic waste separately. These waste is processed into biogas in compost plants either into humus or in biogas plants. At the same time, the production of new resources is secured and the environment is spared. The Federal Environment Agency makes it clear that waste management in Germany is a lengthy process that has been converted from an elimination economy to a circular economy.
Overall, it can be seen that the measures for waste separation and cleaning are an important part of modern waste management that relies on sustainability and resource conservation. This is exactly where Erfurt would like to set up the citizen: to facilitate a good knack for disposing and collecting the organic waste on the inside and at the same time take environmental protection into account.
