Bad Blankenburg murder case: revision after imposed prison sentences!

In the case of the tragic death of a little girl from Bad Blankenburg, who shook the region, the two accused, the mother and her former partner, have appealed against the judgment of the Gera Regional Court. As MDR you do not agree with the judgment that was made in June 2025. The mother was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison, while the stepfather received a lifelong imprisonment, since he found a special severity of guilt. This means that it cannot be released prematurely after 15 years.

The death of the girl who died at the end of 2020 was the result of serious abuse and inadequate medical care. The parents had not visited a doctor for fear of the youth welfare office, which might lead to the devastating consequences. The girl's body was only discovered in early 2023 - more than two years after her death, hidden under a terrace. The living conditions under which the girl lived were catastrophic: there was no heating, no warm water and hardly any social contacts with other children.

abuse and neglect

testimonies in the process revealed a picture of abuse and questionable educational methods. The presiding judge described the case as an evidence process in which it should not be said of a moment failure, but of a long -term catastrophe. However, no clear statement could be made about the exact circumstances that led to death.

The psychological problems, drug use and the personality deficits of the accused were also discussed. The judge found that both accused willingly rejected helpful offers and could not reflect on what had happened. This also meant that the mother still received child benefit after death and was sentenced to repayment of almost 3,000 euros. The judgment is largely based on the public prosecutor's request, while the defense called for an acquittal. However, the decision is not yet final.

a dark chapter in the children's abuse

The case highlights a still urgent problem: child abuse. According to the current police crime statistics for 2024, 3,609 cases of child abuse were recorded in Germany, whereby the number of unreported cases is considered high. Many ill -treatment is within the family and remain hidden. Experts point out that the consequences of violence in childhood can be serious, with lifelong effects on the victims.

The tragedy to the little girl asks us to take a closer look and strengthen preventive measures. It is important that abuse is recognized and reported as quickly as possible to offer children protection and give them a fair opportunity in society. Even if the accused are on trial in this case, the concern for many other children who suffer similar fates remains. A good knack for prevention is essential.

The Revision is now being examined at the Federal Court of Justice, which will be considered possible legal errors in the judgment. If the judgment is lifted, a new process could occur to roll up the tragic case again.
