Things get colorful and diverse in the Ducal Museum Gotha! The new event series “Cake, Kneading & Culture” started on July 12, 2025. The lovingly organized series, which was launched by the Friedenstein Foundation, attracts guests with exciting lectures, readings, conversations and even quizzes to the current annual exhibition, which is entitled "Gotha brilliant?! Flashes of inspiration and long-running favorites from 1250 years". Gotha Current reports that the opening event starts at 3 p.m. with a very special chat about historical innovations and innovations, with Christian Petters von Gotha - Tourist Information & Shop Gotha acting as the interlocutor.
The first lecture has the motto “First time in Gotha” and presents interesting firsts and long-running favorites in the city from a tourist perspective. To top it all off, the traditional Gothaer Kranz is served with coffee. But what would the event series be without the thematic structure of the current special exhibition? This runs from April 27th to October 26th, 2025 and takes visitors on a journey through 1,250 years of the city's history. Under the title "Gotha brilliant?! Flashes of inspiration and long-running favorites from 1250 years", the exhibition illuminates numerous aspects such as politics, education, business and crafts, and shows cultural highlights such as the first world congress of astronomy and the development of maps. The Friedenstein Foundation In collaboration with the University of Erfurt, has created an exciting supporting program that includes historical objects, photographs and interactive elements - including the opportunity to collect typical Goth words.
Special places in Gotha
In Gotha there is not only the Ducal Museum, but also the important Tivoli memorial. The Socialist Workers' Party of Germany was founded here in 1875.
