Ice field rocks: 135 cyclists celebrate musical bike tour with dumplings!

This year, the Eisfelder Summer Concerts presented an extraordinary event that wonderfully combined music and movement. Mayor Christoph Bauer brilliantly won a bet: the musical bike tour was supposed to draw at least 100 cyclists to the destination Sachsenbrunn, and 135 participants actually came together - including children, parents, grandparents as well as the mayor himself and the festival director. This shows that the sense of community is very important in Eisfeld.

The starting point of the bike tour was the Eisfelder Markt, where the atmosphere was great even before the first pedal stroke. The event not only offered sporting fun, but also culinary delicacies: tasty dumplings were served at the sports field and the cyclists were treated to musical performances in the Sachsenbrunn church. The motto of the festival, “In Dialogue”, promoted exchange and gave guests the opportunity to talk to each other.

An exciting program

The 9th Eisfelder Summer Concerts run from July 4th to 12th, 2025 and offer a rich program that goes far beyond the bike tour. Eisfelder Sommerkonzerte reports that classical music, literary encounters and creative formats await visitors. The Ensemble Filum kicked off the festive celebrations with works by Johann Sebastian Bach. A festival choir, consisting of amateur singers and professional musicians, invites you to take an active part - registrations are currently open.

In addition, a musical reading with actor Thomas Thieme will be offered in the Veßra Monastery, and there are other exciting formats on the program: A musical evening walk and even a traveling cinema with an open-air performance at the picturesque Itzquelle are being planned. Cycling tours and experiencing nature

The bike tour was part of the overall concept, which aims to enjoy nature and culture. Germany has over 70,000 kilometers of cycle paths that ensure a harmonious coexistence between people and nature. The course has already been set for the ice field summer concerts and the extensive bike tour. The summer concert ensemble has agreed to redeem the bet and a house concert is on the horizon. This shows how easy and at the same time enriching it can be to integrate culture and community into everyday life.
