Jena celebrates its first away win – Chemie remains without a point and is embarrassed!
An exciting football Sunday in the Northeast Regional League: FC Carl Zeiss Jena scored its first away points of the season on matchday 6. The team beat BSG Chemie Leipzig 2-0 and celebrated a liberating victory. This means that the team from Leipzig remains without a point and has set a negative start record in the Regionalliga Nordost with six defeats in a row.
The game took place in the Alfred Kunze Sports Park in Leipzig-Leutzsch in front of 4,999 spectators. In a duel that is increasingly becoming a challenge for coach Adrian Alipour's chemistry team, Jena remained superior as a better organized team. Jena coach Volkan Uluc can look back on his history with Chemie, which perhaps provided additional incentive for the team to return with a win.
Goals and chances
The goals for Jena were scored by Kevin Lankford in the 52nd and Patrick Weihrauch in the 67th minute. Lankford took advantage of a pass from Reddemann, while Weihrauch made it 0-2 after a combination with Lankford and Eshele. There were also several chances for Jena, including two aluminum hits, which could have increased the clear result even further.
The chemical team, on the other hand, had great difficulty acting against the defensively stable Jena team. With a deep game system, the guests hardly allowed any dangerous actions from Leipzig, which further increased the problems. Despite various attempts to change the way the game was played, no change brought a breath of fresh air to the Chemie Leipzig team, which has now slipped to last place in the league.
Bills of exchange and cards
In total, Jena made three changes: Kratzenberg came on for Lankford in stoppage time, while Kampe came on for Butzen. Hehne replaced Schau in the 88th minute and Burmeister and Hoppe came on for Prokopenko and Weihrauch in the 81st minute. Chemie, on the other hand, brought in Hoffmann for Aliji and Lisinski for Nadjombe in the 76th minute, followed by Kießling in the 60th minute for Seidel and Bunge for Sanin in the 58th minute.
The game was characterized by intense duels, which was also reflected in the number of yellow cards: Lankford and Wendt received yellow cards for rather desperate actions shortly before the final whistle. Hessel (Jena) and Bunge (Chemie) were also warned for their foul play. Overall, the card statistics were a reflection of the compassion and intensity that both teams brought to the game.
A look at the table
The Regionalliga Nordost, in which both established and up-and-coming clubs meet, remains a highly competitive area. Jena's success allows the team to breathe a sigh of relief in the table, while Chemie Leipzig is still waiting for its first point and is stuck in a relegation zone.
With this game, FC Carl Zeiss Jena shows that it is making important progress and can reposition itself in the league. The upcoming games will show whether Chemie Leipzig can overcome the setback or the misery will continue. The coming challenges are already waiting!
