Classic Open Air in Bayreuth: Free cultural highlight in the city park!

A musical highlight awaits culture lovers in Bayreuth: the 11th Sparda-Bank Klassik Open Air will take place on June 27th and 28th. Under the motto “Free and Outdoors”, the Sparda-Bank Nuremberg and the city of Bayreuth invite all music enthusiasts to enjoy the annual event on the city parquet. Admission is free, which means that even last-minute decisions can be made to visit the wonderful open-air ambience.

The kick-off on Friday, June 27th at 8 p.m. is all about... Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra. The young musicians aged 5 to 25 not only applied for the stage, but were also discovered at the state JUGBEND JAZZT competition. With a varied program that ranges from swing classics to jazz-rock and hip-hop, they promise a concert full of spontaneity and creativity - without any printed concert programs. Harald Rüschelbaum is the artistic director.

A musical weekend

The weekend continues on Saturday, June 28th at 8 p.m. The Thuringia Philharmonic Gotha-Eisenach, under the direction of conductor Markus Huber, will delight guests with classical sounds. The program includes overtures by Louis Spohr and Franz Schubert as well as the Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra No. 2 in E flat major, Op. 74 by Carl Maria von Weber. The soloist Anna Erchinger will give the concert a special touch with her clarinet playing.

Beer benches on the city parquet ensure a comfortable experience, and if you like it cozy, you can borrow seat cushions. Visitors are also invited to bring their own chairs, as long as they are not placed in fire service access zones. The barrier-free access to the area guarantees that everyone can fully enjoy the musical offerings, including barrier-free toilets in the art museum and at the central bus stop.

Focus on promoting culture

The Sparda-Bank Nuremberg has set itself the goal of improving the quality of life in the region and giving all Bayreuth residents access to culture. This commitment is reflected not only in the Klassik Open Air, but also in other projects to promote music, which show how important cultural participation is, especially for children and young people. An example of this is the project of the Musiklandschaft Uri association, which receives support from the Jacobs Foundation and the canton of Uri to make it easier for children and young people to have access to musical activities. This project promotes music-making outside of school and combines various initiatives.

Overall, this promises Classic open air a successful mix of regional talent and traditional classical music. Come along and enjoy an evening full of music and community on the city park in Bayreuth!
