More and more people in Thuringia are turning to alternatives to cars when it comes to getting to work. According to a recent report by the Borken newspaper More than a quarter of all employed people in the region do not use cars or motorcycles. This news comes just before Car Free Day on September 22nd and shows an interesting trend.
In 2024, 11% of workers reported walking to work. Public transport was used by 8.8%, while 6.6% of employed people cycled to work. Despite these sustainable alternatives, it can be seen that 72.8% of employees in Thuringia still rely on cars or motorcycles.
