Three thieves on the escape from burglary in Hermsdorf!

A remarkable incident was reported last week in the tranquil community of Hermsdorf, which causes concern in the local population. Unknown perpetrators entered an empty apartment building between May 23, 2025 and last Thursday. The burglars smashed a sink and stole a mixed battery and a distribution box. It is still unclear in which direction the thieves fled after the crime. The police's investigation is already underway to bring light into the dark of this crime, reports news.de.

This incident raises questions and once again shows how important the feeling of security is in the community. Especially in small cities and municipalities, where neighbors often know each other well, such an incident leaves a lasting impression and stirs up fears. According to current statistics, violent crimes only make up a small part - less than 4% - all crimes recorded in Germany. Nevertheless, violent crimes have a far-reaching influence on the feeling of security of the citizens, as Statista explained.

A look at crime

The police statistics show that measured by the approximately 217,000 violent crimes registered in 2024, the number was particularly worrying for 2023. An increase in violent offenses, especially among young people, can be observed. Almost a third of the suspects were under 21 years old in 2021. The reasons for this are multi-layered and range from economic uncertainties to psychological stress by corona pandemic.

Society has reacted to these developments. Events that promote community spirit and social participation are all the more important. A successful example of this is the May celebration in Hermsdorf. On May 1, 2022, this event finally took place again after it had to be pandemeine for two years. Under the motto "Solidarity and Equality", numerous guests were on site, including prominent speakers such as Markus Gleichmann (MDL) and Ralph Lenkert (MdB). The good weather and a varied offer for the whole family ensured a successful event, as can be seen on Die Linke.

The May celebration not only saw itself as a festival for the labor movement, but also offered a strong sign for equality of rainbow families. For the younger visitors there was fun with a bouncy castle and a book bazaar, while the adults enjoyed coffee and cake or hearty dishes from the grill. Such community events are essential to strengthen social cohesion in times of uncertainties.

All in all, it turns out that despite the challenges with which the community is confronted, the will remains strong for community and cohesion. The investigation into the thefts in Hermsdorf are underway, while at the same time the citizens are encouraged to actively participate in the design of their social life.
