30 years of rabbit breeding in Steinheid: Anniversary with life and music!
On August 24, 2025, the 30th district young animal show took place in Steinheid, an event that makes the hearts of rabbit lovers beat faster. The event was ceremoniously opened by Lothar Billert, a veteran member of the Steinheid rabbit breeding association, which has been active for 50 years. There was a lot to celebrate as the club proudly looks back on 70 years of existence. The opening ceremony was crowned with a special highlight: a song about the club, which discussed the pride and hopes of the members, created an emotional atmosphere and surprised those present.
A number of prominent personalities were present, including state parliament member Henry Worm (CDU) and deputy district administrator Andreas Groß (AfD). Uwe Scheler, the mayor of Neuhäuser, Roman Koch (CDU), the district mayor, and Thomas Schröder, the district chairman of the Sonneberg breed rabbit breeders, also did not miss the event. Martin Backert, the chairman of the Sonneberg district association of poultry farmers, and Matthias Wöhner, the exhibition manager, further enriched the event with their presence.
The diversity of races
A total of 211 rabbits in 34 different breeds were presented at the fair. This impressively shows the diversity of pedigree rabbits and the commitment of the breeders.
