Reading summer in Sonneberg: There are great prizes for young readers!
As of today, holiday reading fun is in full swing at the Sonneberg City Library. The “My Reading Summer” project is aimed at all bookworms and those who want to become one – especially at children and young people between the ages of 8 and 16. As insuedthueringen.de reports, participants can borrow and read a book from the city library's extensive selection during the summer holidays. Submitting a reading brochure by August 23rd is a requirement for participation in order to benefit from the raffle for great prizes.
In the reading brochure that the participants are supposed to fill out, they can record their personal opinion about the book, note their favorite reading places and write down exciting quotes. Anyone who has finished reading a book has the chance to win prizes such as an e-book reader, vouchers for the Sonneberg bookstore and many other reading surprises. What's particularly nice: the best photos from the holiday reading locations are exhibited in the library.
A wide range of offerings in the city library
The Sonneberg City Library, a public institution in the heart of the city, has much more to offer. A huge selection of around 32,000 media is spread over around 540 square meters - from fiction and non-fiction to children's and young adult books. Here every member of the public can find their favorite books or read up on new genres. Particularly worth mentioning is the extensive range of services, ranging from individual introductions to using the library to digital media rallies, as sonneberg.de also emphasizes.
For many, the library is also a place of meeting and education. In addition to the classic book rental service, there is a digital media offering and numerous events that promote the joy of reading. And just recently, the #BookTok trend has created new enthusiasm for beautiful stories to find their place on social media.
A network for promoting reading
The initiatives to promote reading, including those listed by the Federal Education Server, are active throughout Germany. These include reading nights, reading festivals and a variety of programs to get children and young people excited about reading. In this way, reading is not only encouraged, but can also be experienced as an important cultural asset. Events such as the nationwide reading day or special competitions create incentives for active participation and enrich the reading experience for all age groups.
The city library in Sonneberg is an excellent example of a facility that takes up all of these aspects of reading and makes them available to its users. There's something for every reader here - from the latest bestsellers to classics of children's literature. The reading summer not only offers entertainment, but also incentives to engage with literature, all in an atmosphere that invites you to browse and discover.
So if you don't have a library card yet, you should apply for one as soon as possible. This is free for children and young people, and the opportunities that arise from it are promising. Where else can you live out your passion for reading in a context of 32,000 media and diverse activities like here in Sonneberg? It's not every day that you have all of this in one place!
