The anticipation of thatOpen Gardens Dayin Suhl on Sunday, DecemberJune 22nd, is big! On this day, a total of ten private gardens in Suhl and Zella-Mehlis open their doors to all garden lovers and curious people. A particularly pretty entrance garden can be found in the Gasthaus Goldener Hirsch, An der Hasel 91–93, while the second entrance can be found in the beautiful terraced garden, Am Hoheloh 1. The latter are considered to be the oldest and most beautiful allotment gardens in Suhl, where there are no fences between the plots - this conjures up a park-like atmosphere.
This is an event that is becoming increasingly popular among garden enthusiasts in Thuringia. MDR reports that these events take place regularly from April to September not only in Suhl, but also in many other cities in Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. Every third Sunday of the month, visitors have the opportunity to view a variety of different gardens, from small home gardens to large landscape gardens. Visitors can discover real treasures, ranging from iris collectors to rhododendron professionals.
A look at the diverse gardens
The “Open Gardens” event was launched back in 2001 and has managed to double or even triple the number of visitors since then offen-gaerten-thueringen.de reported. The aim of the event is to provide insights into private gardens and to promote exchange between hobby gardeners and professionals. There are many different plants and design options that invite you to enjoy nature and gardening.
