Festive highlight in Benshausen: children's home celebrates 75 years!

The Benshausen children's and youth home recently celebrated a very special occasion: on June 20, 2025, the facility celebrated its 75th birthday with a happy summer party. In brilliant weather, many companions and supporters gathered that day, including the mayor of Zella-Mehlis, Torsten Widder, to properly honor this important anniversary. Over 70 invited guests were present and experienced a colorful program full of activities.

A special highlight of the festival was a diverse range of entertainment. In addition to goal wall shooting and target squirting, visitors also had the opportunity to marvel at figures made from balloons or try their luck on the wheel of fortune. The atmosphere was exuberant and the music and dance performances presented by some of the 56 girls currently living at the home contributed to a fun and warm atmosphere. A celebration of community

As part of the celebrations, there were also emotional speeches from facility manager Kathrin Langanke and other guests of honor. Langanke particularly thanked the Krebaum couple from Gelnhausen, whose support helped the home significantly. This honor was rounded off with the handover of a self-built birdhouse by the home's craft group. There was also a group photo in the park that captured the positive community atmosphere, followed by festive delicacies such as cake and appetizers.

The event on May 7th, designed to celebrate the 75th anniversary, left a lasting impression. The children and young people put a lot of effort into their performances and put a smile on the faces of not only the guests, but also their own carers and friends , according to the Benshausen children's home website.

Looking into the future

With a heartfelt thank you to all donors and supporters, Kathrin Langanke showed how important it is to offer the children a loving and supportive environment. The children's and youth home will continue to work actively on projects with the aim of strengthening the rights of children, supported by the German Children's Fund and its funding offers( dkhw.de reports that… ).Various funds are made available that could also benefit the children's home.

The 75th anniversary celebrations were a nice look back at the past few years and an encouraging look ahead to what is to come. The Benshausen children's and youth home will continue to be a place of community and support in which children and young people can thrive.
