Truck accident on A73: Tireplace ensures hours of blocking!

A spectacular traffic accident occurred on the A 73 towards the Feucht, between the port of Hafen-Süd and the Munich Str. A 63-year-old driver from Swabia had lost control of his truck with a trailer after the left front tire had burst. The truck, loaded with around 20 tons of animal feed pellets, came off the road, crashed into the concrete area and overturned. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the incident caused a significant property damage of an estimated 59,000 euros.

The load of the truck was damp and all lane of the directional lane Suhl over the left lanes of the directional lane. Parts of the affected vehicle were thrown onto the oncoming lane and damaged two cars there. In order to clear the scene of the accident, there were numerous on -site emergency services, including the Nuremberg professional fire brigade and the volunteer fire brigades Wendelstein and Worzeldorf. The motorway master and the technical relief organization also supported. Due to the clean -up work, both directional lanes remained closed for several hours before the Suhl travel direction could be reopened after about eight hours. The direction of travel Feucht was released again around 4:00 a.m.

tire plug as a source of danger

tire pitchers, as they were based in this case, can be extremely dangerous and lead to serious problems on the highway. The pressure that truck and bus tires are exposed significantly increases the risk of such an incident. If a tire bursts, the consequences can be devastating: accidents, long delays and unpleasant waiting times are often the result. The truck driver Tinka reports an example of this from her own experience. Her tire burst on a route from Kassel to Dortmund about seven years ago, where she had no way of avoiding and bumping against a platform truck that had lost a scaffolding part on the road.

Especially on highways where the space is often narrow and there are only a few alternative options, tire space can have fatal consequences. A judgment of the Arnstadt district court from 2015 illustrates the legal implications of such incidents. Here it was decided that both the truck driver and the holder are responsible for the parts of the tire that remain on the highway. The court also found that drivers who come across a remnant of tires at high speed are often unable to avoid what leads to accidents in good time.

These events and judgments make it clear how important it is to keep an eye on the safety of truck tires. Tire maintenance and testing should be a top priority for every driver to avoid such dangerous situations. After all, it is not only a question of your own security, but also that other road users.
