Sparkasse closes self-service branch in Frankfurt (Oder) due to vandalism!

Today there is important news for Sparkasse customers in Frankfurt (Oder). The self-service branch on August-Bebel-Straße will close on November 6, 2025. This decision was made due to repeated vandalism and ongoing contamination, which has severely affected the use of the branch. What is particularly frustrating is that other locations in the city are also affected by similar problems, which is putting a strain on the branch landscape not only on August-Bebel-Straße, but throughout Frankfurt (Oder).

Much to the dissatisfaction of many, the closure means that residents of the area will have to go to Rathenaustrasse in the future to reach the nearest ATMs. There is a machine there directly opposite the Lidl car park. If you also want to access ATMs in the area, you will find a total of 31 corresponding devices spread across the city. This also includes machines at Rewe at Hansaplatz, in the Südringcenter and at several other locations in the area, such as Große Scharrnstrasse and Franz-Mehring-Strasse. The possibility of viewing account statements and making deposits remains at the office on Franz-Mehring-Straße for the time being.

Future developments

Despite the current challenges, there is a ray of hope: a new branch with a self-service area will open on Rathenaustraße in early 2026. This promises to improve customer satisfaction and revitalize services in this important part of the city. The closure of the branch in the train station, which previously had a reduced opening time from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., is a further indicator of the difficulties that the Sparkasse in Frankfurt (Oder) is experiencing.

The situation for bank customers in the city remains tense, but the banks are called upon to find solutions and adapt to the needs of the population. Responsible use of the premises is essential in order to be able to guarantee local financial supplies in the future. Here you can find an overview of the ATMs in Frankfurt (Oder): the local one. Customer service is available to answer detailed questions about account processing and invoicing, and can also help with changing personal information, e.g. updating your email address via the platform Videotron.

Finally, it remains to be hoped that the new branch on Rathenaustraße can meet the needs of Cologne's citizens and bring about a positive change for the local banking community. Until then, switching to other ATMs and using the main branch will be a necessity for many.
