S-Bahn chaos in Berlin: construction work brings massive restrictions!

The work includes, among other things, the construction of foundations for signals, cable laying and the installation of switch loops. The goal is to modernize the infrastructure and increase the reliability of S-Bahn operations in the long term. In order to compensate for the loss of train traffic, the S-Bahn Berlin is setting up replacement bus routes.

Replacement bus routes and stops

The replacement bus line for the S46 runs between Schöneweide and Grünau. Here are the stops: Sterndamm (Schöneweide), Wagner-Régeny-Allee (Johannisthal), Rudower Chaussee (Adlershof) and Richterstraße (Grünau). A similar route is offered for the S9, and the Ewaldstrasse and Altglienicke stops are also served.

However, passengers are asked to find out about the routes in advance. This can be done easily using the S-Bahn app or on the notices at the train stations. It is also important to note that tickets for the replacement buses must be purchased before the start of the journey, as tickets are not sold on the bus.

Further restrictions in the S-Bahn network

But these are not the only restrictions! There will also be changes on other lines. Between June 13th and 25th, traffic between Wannsee and Zehlendorf and between Grunewald and Potsdam will be affected.
