Kreiswerke Barnim inspires 1,000 visitors at the open day!

Last Saturday, September 20th, the Barnim district works opened its doors to the interested public. Around 1,000 visitors flocked to the open day event, which was dedicated to World Cleanup Day. District Administrator Daniel Kurth and Managing Director Christian Mehnert gave the official starting signal, and right from the start it was clear that a lot of passion is being put into promoting a clean environment.
Barnim Current reports that there was an exciting program for young and old, which not only included information about waste management and environmental education, but also the newly introduced “Green Hopper” bouncy castle was waiting for the little ones.

The attractions were varied. Visitors were able to use the BARshare service to go to the Ostend landfill and even take the wheel of a waste collection vehicle themselves. Creative activities were offered for the children, such as making garbage trucks out of old milk cartons and a painting competition for ages 6 to 12. The activities were supplemented by participation activities by numerous regional partners such as the Barnimer Busgesellschaft and Hebewerk e.V., who also enriched the event with culinary snacks and drinks.

A colorful supporting program

The stage program provided entertainment throughout the day. In addition to the opening speeches by Kurth and Mehnert, free film screenings were also shown, including the film “Holy Shit”. As if that weren't enough, there was also a competition rally where guests could collect stamps to win cool prizes. Information stands offered comprehensive knowledge about waste, energy and environmental education and were particularly eye-catching.

The lively participation and colorful hustle and bustle were also accompanied by a photomobile campaign where families could take souvenir photos. This mix of education and fun is valued by the organizers and is an annual highlight in the Barnim event calendar. This shows how important environmental protection is and how easily everyone can contribute to it.

A look into the future of waste management

The dynamic developments in waste management are an important issue that affects not only the district utilities, but also society as a whole. According to Haus der Technik, new technologies and strict regulations in environmental law are crucial for shaping waste management.
HDT explains that current knowledge of environmental law is crucial for legally compliant actions. The Kreiswerke Barnim therefore relies on training and further education to bring employees in specialist waste disposal companies and representatives of supervisory authorities up to date.

The event on September 20th was a complete success and proved that commitment to an environmentally friendly region pays off. It remains to be seen how the approaches to waste management will develop in the future, but the signs are good: with interested citizens and a strong network of partners at their side, the Barnim district works are well positioned.
