Weekend full of highlights: festivals, sport and culture in Bernau!
August 30, 2025 brings a wealth of activities for everyone traveling in and around Bernau. The weather promises a sunny Saturday after the fog, with temperatures up to 23 degrees. On Sunday it will be even warmer, with up to 25 degrees – the perfect backdrop for the numerous events.
For music lovers, the “Music in the Basket” event is on the program on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., organized by the Moving Home Ensemble. The location is weather dependent, so keep your eyes open! If you prefer something a little quieter, you can take part in a church tour of St. Mary's Church, which starts at 11:30 a.m. Please note that accessibility is limited. The sporty visitors can look forward to FSV Bernau's first home game weekend, with a U17 test match at 11 a.m., followed by the second team at 1 p.m. and the first team at 3 p.m.
Festivals and celebrations
The Thanksgiving festival in Danewitz will be a particular highlight: the service starts at 11 a.m., followed by a colorful harvest parade at 2 p.m. A celebratory speech by the mayor will also be offered. There will be a hit meeting at the Wukensee lido on Saturday evening, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are available in advance for 15 euros, box office 20 euros.
For hiking enthusiasts, we recommend a beautiful tour through the Schönower Heide with the theme “heather blossom”. The guided hike of around 6 km starts at the Heideportal between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Cultural highlights and other events
For theater lovers, there is the performance “ABBA – naked facts and the big hits” at the folding chair theater in Ladeburg at 7 p.m. Please bring your own seating, entry is free!
The 10th Lichterfeld Summer Night Lights also starts on August 30th from 2 p.m. The highlight is the lantern parade at 6:30 p.m., followed by exuberant dance music when it gets dark.
On Sunday, August 31st, the summer festival continues at the Lindow horse and breeding farm from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., which features pony rides and a farm rally for the whole family. At the same time, Club Day will take place in Bernau City Park from 11 a.m., where over 59 clubs will present their stands - a community meeting!
If you're looking for a quiet break, you can use the boat rentals along the Finow Canal for a spontaneous tour. In addition, a special kind of festival is taking place in Berlin with the “Train of Love” demonstration, which will pass from Bernauer Straße to Oranienstraße from 1 p.m.
In the context of the coming week, the Bernauer Braugenossenschaft's Thanksgiving festival is already on the agenda, which will take place on Sunday, September 7th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the estate in Börnicke. Visitors can look forward to a merchant mile with local products, entertainment for children and culinary delights. The festival will be enriched musically by the band EXPERIENCE, and for those interested there will be tours of the brewery that explain the brewing process of the “Braugenosse” brand. Entry is free.
All of these activities and the pleasant weather make the weekend in Bernau and the surrounding area a colorful experience that attracts both locals and visitors. A good reason to set off – there’s something there!
