Fire and Flame” action day: Illuminate museums in Brandenburg!

Next Saturday, October 25, 2025, will be a special experience for the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. Under the motto “Fire and flame for our museums” an extensive day of action will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Brandenburg an der Havel City Museum – Frey House. A very special highlight is the scavenger hunt that starts at 2 p.m. between the Steintorturm and the Frey House. For everyone who likes a more contemplative experience, a storytelling session for adults with musical accompaniment from Karin Warnken, Zoya Niet and Christof Schreiter will be offered from 5:00 p.m. The band Pötsch & Wolf will provide musical entertainment from 6 p.m.

Special ambience and cuisine

This themed week, which runs until November 12th, includes 35 events that revolve around Jewish life and culture in Brandenburg. Under the leadership of the “Kreuzberg Initiative against Anti-Semitism” (KIgA), annual funding of 200,000 euros is also provided to further strengthen this important aspect of society.

Events in detail

The city museum will actively participate in the “Jewish Kaleidoscope”. On November 4th there will be a lecture evening about the Jewish department store group “M. Conitzer & Söhne”, where speaker Ursula Töller will give interesting insights into the history of the department stores. On November 5th, a memory tour entitled “Memory Walk: Chapter 2 – Schwarz Family” will be offered. This event focuses on the history of the Schwarz family during the Nazi era and begins in the Frey House, where participants start at 5:00 p.m. and travel for about an hour.

Both events are free and open to those aged 14 and over, although registration is not necessary. At a time when it is important to reflect on one's own history and celebrate cultural diversity, these events offer an excellent opportunity to actively engage with these issues and bring them into the community.
