Collective bargaining at the Elbe-Elster-Klinikum: The next round is coming up!
The storm surrounding collective bargaining at Elbe-Elster Klinikum GmbH continues to unfold. The fourth round of negotiations is scheduled for November 13, 2025 in Finsterwalde. Around 740 employees are affected, including around 680 non-medical employees and 60 trainees. These negotiations are part of a lengthy process that began on August 21, 2025, as DGB reported.
However, a ray of hope emerged on October 21st when an agreement was reached on a new pay scale. This regulates the assignment of employees to pay groups based on specific job characteristics and comes into force on January 1, 2026. This will finally put an end to the outdated regulations from the 1980s and 1990s, which no longer corresponded to reality. The new order is based on the measures of the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD) and adopts many of the terms and groups that apply there, such as ver.di supplemented.
Demands of the employees
The ver.di union is making clear claims in the current negotiations. From July 1, 2025, a wage increase of 8 percent is required, with at least 350 euros more per month being put on the table for employees. In addition, the reduction of weekly working hours from 39 to 38.5 hours with full wage compensation is on the agenda. The allowances for shift and alternating shift work should also be increased in order to bring themselves up to the level of the TVöD, which would improve the attractiveness of the positions. Ver.di is also calling for an increase in training pay by 150 euros as well as additional vacation day regulations from 2027, which should benefit employees who work rotating shifts.
It remains to be seen how employers will respond to these demands. So far, Elbe-Elster Klinikum GmbH has not yet made a concrete collective bargaining offer to increase wages or improve working conditions. The last word has not yet been spoken, but the next negotiations could be crucial for the future of the clinic's employees, as the Regional portal notes.
It remains to be hoped that everyone involved shows a good hand in the negotiation process and ultimately comes to a fair solution for the employees of Elbe-Elster Klinikum GmbH.
