Referee training is no small matter: training to become a football referee costs around 50 euros, which includes the course and the initial equipment. This equipment is worth around 150 euros and is usually borne by the clubs. In addition to theoretical units, the training parts also include practical teaching evenings. After training, all referees have access to a mentor system in which experienced referees take on a supporting role. The Bavarian Football Association points out that referees are insured during their games and cannot be held liable for decisions.

The duties of a referee

Referees are not only responsible for officiating the games and enforcing the rules, but also must participate in referee group activities. This promotes exchange and further development within the group. The games themselves usually take place in the local area - up to 30 km from home - with parents often having to provide transport to the games and teaching evenings.

For anyone who is thinking about diving into the exciting challenge of refereeing, the upcoming courses are an excellent opportunity. Speed and a good hand are required, so don't hesitate to register in time!
