Tradition and future of gymnastics
The tradition of gymnastics in Potsdam has a long history and has produced many internationally successful gymnasts. Thanks to the new gymnasium at the airship port, optimal conditions are available for the training and further education of athletes as well as for popular sports. Here, gymnasts as well as adult men and women have the opportunity to improve their gymnastics skills. Regardless of whether you are a competitive athlete or just a hobby gymnast – the offerings in the gymnastics community are diverse and open to those interested. The new hall can be used on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., while preschool gymnastics takes place every Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Potsdam-Eiche elementary school USV Potsdam informed.
Gymnastics itself has a long and important history in Germany. The German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) is the second largest sports association in Germany with 4.6 million members and offers a wide range of sports, including gymnastics, which has been an Olympic discipline since the first Olympic Games in 1896. Over 69 million people in the German-speaking population have already heard of gymnastics, and interest is constantly growing. This shows how deeply anchored this sport is in German sports culture, and it is expected that the number of active gymnasts will continue to increase, according to information from Gymnastics100.
SC Potsdam is proud of its young talents and would like to thank the dedicated coaching team that supports the athletes. We wish all squad athletes good luck for the coming season and hope for numerous further successes from Potsdam in the sporting world!
