Successful 30th Monastery Garden Concert thrilled 480 visitors in Prenzlau!

On Friday evening, 480 enthusiastic visitors experienced a special kind of musical highlight in the cemetery of the Dominican monastery in Prenzlau. The 30th monastery garden concert attracted many music lovers and offered a touching performance under the direction of Jürgen Bischof, consisting of around 80 singers and musicians from the Uckermärkisches Konzertchor, the children's project choir and the Prussian chamber orchestra. This compilation underlines the rich musical tradition of the monastery, which is also celebrating its 750th anniversary this year. As the SVZ reported that the cemetery's capacity was completely exhausted.

There was already a high level of demand in the run-up to the concert, honoring the long tradition of the monastery garden concert. Upon entry, female guests were welcomed with a rose, while candlelight created a special atmosphere. The concert began at 9 p.m. and the selection of pieces was dedicated to the theme of love in its various facets. In addition to the opening piece “Nette Encounter” by Oliver Gies, well-known folk songs and Richard Wagner’s “Lied an den Abendstern” were also performed. The performance of the children's project choir was particularly touching, with the song “Why does this have to happen to us?” by Elsa-Pekka Salonen paid homage to all children in the world and addressed the issues of suffering and war in the world.
