Fire on Getreidefeld in Rostock: 10 hectares in danger!

On Wednesday afternoon, July 2, 2025, a fire broke out on a grain field near Schmadebeck in the Rostock district. About ten hectares of arable land were affected. The fire brigade was in use to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to an adjacent forest. Despite the quick intervention, the fire brigade was challenged until the early hours, since heavy smoke development burdened the surroundings and asked residents to keep windows and doors closed. Especially during this time, the forest fire warning level had jumped in parts of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at level 4, which indicates the high risk.
