Greifswald celebrates 775 years with a colorful MV day: a celebration of diversity!

The big celebration for MV Day is in full swing in Greifswald on June 20, 2025. With the motto “Tradition, Innovation and Diversity” not only 775 years of the city's history, but also the 35th anniversary of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are vigorously celebrated. On the three days of the festival, from June 20th to 22nd, visitors can expect exciting events and numerous experience areas that transform the city center into a lively festival.

Starting at 11 a.m., the NDR Vorpommernstudio on Knopfstrasse offers an exciting program with studio and technology tours as well as information about the diverse NDR programs. If you want to save special memories, you will also find a photo booth there. The little guests will be particularly happy about the visit from Ernie and Bert as well as other KIKA characters who contribute to the interactive entertainment.

A diverse stage program

The stage will be the center of events for the next few days. Friday evening starts with a warm-up party at 7 p.m. and a concert by the band Marquess at 9 p.m. The festival starts on Saturday with the opening at 11 a.m., accompanied by a performance by the MV State Police Orchestra. The big MV day party follows later in the evening with a concert by Joris.

Sunday is no less dedicated to great music: an opening concert with the MV State Police Orchestra is planned, followed by the official opening by Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig and Mayor Dr. Stefan Fassbinder. From 1 p.m., little fans have the opportunity to experience KiKA Live with popular characters, while the MV tag party with NDR 1 is in full swing from 7:30 p.m. The crowning conclusion is a concert by 4FUN and another performance by Joris on Sunday evening.

Accessibility and security

Visitors don't have to worry about accessibility because the organizers have made sure that everything is barrier-free. Low barriers have been removed and there are dedicated disabled parking spaces as well as a ramp at the main stage for wheelchair users. Hearing amplifiers at the state stage and a sign language interpreter at official program items are also available.

Although the festival is in full bloom, there was a recent safety incident when a twelve-year-old boy jumped into the Baltic Sea despite the red flag and was fortunately rescued. This is an important note for all visitors staying at the port: safety is always a priority.
