B208 will be free today - but the next full closure will be coming soon!

In the Northwest Mecklenburg region, numerous road users are currently facing challenges as several roads are temporarily closed due to construction work. This particularly affects the busy B208, which will be reopened on October 25, 2025 after renovation work. A 50-meter damaged area was successfully removed, providing relief for commuters. However, the road in Gadebusch will be completely closed again from October 27, 2025 in order to renew a further, urgently needed section from the Steinstraße intersection to the exit of the town in the direction of Mühlen Eichsen. The end of its useful life has been reached here and the work is being carried out in three construction phases, which are expected to be completed by mid-November 2025

[Nordkurier] reports that during the construction period, regional traffic will be redirected via Rehna and Grevesmühlen to Mühlen Eichsen. However, residents can still access their properties and trash collection will continue as usual. There are special construction site timetables for public transport connections, which apply to certain lines, such as the 130, on October 29th and 30th, 2025. The “Passow” stop will not be served on these days.

Further construction work in the district

But that's not all: extensive renovation work is also planned on the district roads K 01 and K 02. These begin on July 29, 2025 and are scheduled to be completed by September 5, 2025. On the K 01 between the Palingen junction and Selmsdorf, the asphalt surface will be renewed over around 4.6 kilometers. On the K 02 between Wahrsow and Hof Lockwisch, a similar measure is required over around 3 kilometers, where the asphalt surface layer also needs to be renewed.

Both measures involve a complete closure of through traffic, which is why diversions have been set up. The diversion for the K 01 leads via L 02 to Rehna and then via the Raddingsdorfer junction to the L 01, while the K 02 is routed via the shorter route near Wahrsow to the Lübecker Straße junction in Schönberg.

Investments in infrastructure

The construction work on the B208 and the renovation of the district roads K 01 and K 02 are part of a comprehensive investment plan in the district. A total of around 200,000 euros will be invested in both sections of the B208. The Matthäi company from Leezen has taken over the contract for the construction work on the B208 and the road construction in Gadebusch. The investments aim to increase traffic safety and sustainably improve the region's infrastructure.

Although the construction work will cause traffic inconvenience, the aim is to ensure better road quality in the long term. Even if the diversions initially require patience, citizens and commuters can hope for a safe and well-developed transport infrastructure in the future.
