Shopping on Reformation Day: These shops in Boltenhagen are open!
In Boltenhagen, Reformation Day, celebrated on October 28th, is always a special highlight for shopping fans. On this holiday, numerous shops on Ostseeallee and the Mittelpromenade are open to offer visitors a pleasant shopping experience. This also applies to the popular shop Highlight Fashion, which has been run by Khokhar Satbir Singh for 16 years. As a former weekly market trader, he is very familiar with the needs of his customers and has built up a loyal customer base, including Sibyll Urban from Ratzeburg, who specifically comes to his shop, even on public holidays. On Reformation Day, Highlight Fashion opens its doors from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The new shop opening times are also part of the pool regulations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which have been allowed to open across all sectors on Sundays since March 15th. Peter Jans, who has been running a charming hat shop in Boltenhagen for 25 years, strongly supports these extended opening hours. In addition to Highlight Fashion, other shops are also open on Ostseeallee, including Freizeitmode Siggelkow, Der Sonnenmond, CT Mode and Mode Jans. The bike shop way2bike is also there for its customers on Reformation Day.
Variety of shops
The central promenade also has a lot to offer: in the sea chest, visitors can find souvenirs and maritime items, while the candy shop offers sweet temptations, including roasted almonds. Despite the positive development, there are also limitations. Some discounters, such as Tedi, Kik, Aldi and Edeka, will remain closed on Reformation Day. Markant, however, will open its doors. In Klütz, Lidl and the Stolz department store remain open, while Penny is closing. The pool regulations there remain uncertain as the city is no longer on the list of places with special opening hours.
This uncertainty has already led to critical voices. Deputy Mayor Guntram Jung questioned the Ministry of Economic Affairs' decision and referred to the protests in 2018, when Klütz was also affected by the pool regulations. At that time, the protests led to the decision being reversed. It remains to be seen whether the situation will change again for Klütz.
Reformation Day in Boltenhagen not only represents a rich shopping experience, but also discussions about the economic conditions that are lively in the small coastal town. There is a lot to discover in Ostseeallee - both for locals and tourists on their holiday trips.
