Construction stop at the Tresor Hotel: New chapter for Schwerin's construction projects!
Schwerin is currently in a state of upheaval, and not just because of the ongoing construction halt on the Tresor Hotel in the former state bank on Friedrichstrasse. Building owner Udo Chistée reported that the renovation was stalled because the general contractor was fired. On top of that, there are reports that he has not paid his subcontractors and builders. The opening of the planned four-star hotel, originally scheduled for summer 2023, is now postponed to 2025 because a new general contractor needs to be found. Despite the unpleasant news, Chistée emphasizes that the entire project is financially secure and that debt collection agencies have already been called in by waiting companies. The company responsible cannot be reached at the moment, and the construction stop is of course causing a lot of conversation in Schwerin.
It remains to be seen how the construction work will develop further. Originally it was planned that AMEDIA PLAZA SCHWERIN It will offer 104 double rooms, meeting rooms and a shopping and dining area. But recent developments show that the renovation and modernization have encountered unexpected challenges - such as severely damaged steel beams. The renovation work is intended to preserve historical elements and renovate the ceiling on the ground floor, which now takes additional time.
A ray of hope for the community
Schwerin will also soon be the site of a fascinating comic exhibition. Under the title "Feuchtenbergerowa. Comrade Cuckoo and other characters", the internationally recognized comic artist Anke Feuchtenberger will be presenting her works in the Kulturforum from September 6th to November 23rd. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and admission prices are moderate at 6 euros (reduced 4 euros, free for ages 27 and under).
