New theater tent in Schwerin: Culture in the heart of the city!

The newly built theater tent at the kitchen garden in Schwerin will soon become the center of an exciting cultural period. General director Wegner attaches great importance to a close coordination with the residents to ensure harmonious coexistence. When aligning the tent, the original arrangement was adjusted and the outdoor lighting was carefully planned so that it does not shine in children's room. In order to accommodate the residents, the performances end at 10 p.m. at the latest. This was decided in close consultation with the residents to reduce the harassment by noise to a minimum. There were also challenges in reconstruction after the Federal Garden Show, since there were no connections for electricity, water or waste water; These had to be created again.

The rent for the theater tent is 26,000 euros per month, and the tent is expected to stop for 14 months. During this time, not only operettas are presented, but other cultural events are also held. It is important to the organizers that all visitors: inside have access to the offers. The theater places in the tent are continuously accessible and wheelchair spaces are offered at ground level. Accompanying persons can comfortably take a seat in the front row. These measures are part of the comprehensive accessibility, which is also guaranteed in gastronomy and sanitary facilities.

The theater tent is filled with life, starting with the premiere of Franz Lehár's "The funny widow" on June 27, 2025. A total of 11 performances are planned by August 3, 2025. Six productions are planned for the subsequent season 2025/2026, including a Christmas fairy tale. In addition to operettas, the audience will also expect performances by the acting and ballet ensemble as well as concerts by the Mecklenburg State Capelle. The location is conveniently accessible from the large house on foot, and the organizers strive to make the visit as pleasant as possible.

The theater tent offers space for around 500 guests with a total area of 2,200 m². The main tent area has a height of 17 meters and has a stage that corresponds to the portal width of the large house. In order to make the visit optimally, the arrival and descents were matched to the beginning and the end of the performances. The times were placed in such a way that they take into account the needs of the residents.

However, there are solutions for the fear of thresholds and barriers. The [Federal Freedom of Barrier] (https://kompetent-barrierefrei.de/barrierefreie- events) recommends ensuring accessibility for all participants at events. The theater tent fulfills this requirement and ensures that everyone, including people with impairments, can receive access to the cultural offers.

The theater tent is certainly an estimated part of the Schwerin cultural scene and offers something for everyone - from demanding operettas to family fairy tale evenings. We look forward to an exciting time full of art and culture!
