Another important part of the financial support goes to research. 63 million euros will be invested in a new research center on the Weinberg campus, which will focus on sustainable materials and energy. The focus here is on digital life sciences and digital medicine. The funding is based on the state guideline “Saxony-Anhalt Revier 2038”, which is intended to support structural change in the former brown coal region. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has around 140 million euros available for this purpose until 2033 MWU Saxony-Anhalt reported.

The project envisages close collaboration between nursing, medicine, IT, engineering and the creative industries. Innovative technologies such as AI-supported systems and care robots are to be developed.
