Halle will have a direct ICE connection to Paris from December!

In the beautiful city of Halle (Saale), travelers can look forward to an exciting innovation: From December 14, 2025, a daily direct ICE connection from Berlin via Halle to Paris will be introduced. This was announced by Halle's mayor Alexander Vogt, who emphasized that the new connection strengthens Halle as a business and conference location. With a fast and comfortable train connection, discovering Paris is now even easier and quicker.

The train journey from Halle to Paris takes six and a half hours. The ICE stops at Halle main station at 8:18 a.m. and takes passengers directly to the French capital, where they arrive at 2:51 p.m. The return journey starts at 11:07 a.m. from the Gare de l’Est in Paris and reaches Halle at 5:45 p.m. This gives travelers enough time to explore the city's famous sights.

A new hub in Europe

With this new connection, Halle will be regularly and directly connected to a Western European metropolis by long-distance transport for the first time. This not only strengthens travel options, but also makes Halle an important hub in international transport connections. Halle main station will thus be further developed as an international hub, which should promote both tourism and the local economy. The mayor of Halle speaks of an opportunity to connect the city to European transport nations.

A direct connection between Berlin and Paris was introduced last year, but it did not stop in central Germany. The current connection is therefore seen as a further step towards better connections to the region. Tickets for the new connection cannot yet be booked by passengers, but a corresponding announcement from Deutsche Bahn is expected.

Future connections and offers

However, the trip to Paris is just the beginning. From June 13, 2027, the Austrian Federal Railways are planning a daily direct connection from Berlin to Milan with a stop in Halle. This will not only improve the connection between Berlin and Milan, but also include stops in cities such as Munich and Innsbruck. In addition, a further connection from Berlin via Halle to Naples is planned from June 11, 2028, with stopovers in Bologna and Florence.

Anyone who is now considering traveling regularly by train can also benefit from the BahnCard 25, which offers a 25% discount on various ticket prices within Germany. The BahnCard can be used for both ICE train tickets and regional transport. This could be important for many travelers in the Halle region, especially with the new connections coming their way.

Overall, it can be said that these new transport connections not only give Halle direct access to an important European metropolis, but also make optimal use of its strategic location on the high-speed route between Berlin and Munich. The opportunities for future business travelers and tourists are very popular.
