Dogs become emperors in the Harz: discover 222 hiking destinations!
In the Harz, one of the most popular hiking destinations in Germany, a new attraction has been established since the end of April: the Harz hiking pin for dogs. Dog owners and their four-legged companions can now collect stamps at various hiking locations and discover the scenic beauty of the region. Loud Borken newspaper Over 4,000 people have already applied for this new pass, which offers a special adventure for dogs.
With a total of 222 hiking destinations, participating dogs and their owners have access to a veritable El Dorado of excursion options. At these stamp points, which are located along an extensive hiking network of 8,000 kilometers in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, dogs can collect their stamps in the booklet provided. The four-legged hiker's booklet differs in design from that of humans to meet the needs of furry adventurers.
The adventure of hiking
The concept of the Harzer Wandernadel was introduced in 2005 and has become a fixture among outdoor activities in the Harz. The program is not only intended to encourage physical activity, but also to motivate people to explore the region's diverse nature and cultural treasures. In addition to hiking, participants can also get active by cycling, making the program even more accessible. Information about the history of the stamp points is supplemented by informative boards, so that education plays just as much a role as leisure activities Harz Adventure reported.
The reward for the little adventurers is impressive: more than a dozen dogs have already achieved all 222 goals and can now call themselves “Four-Paw Emperor” or “Empress”. As an honor, they receive pendants for their collars or harnesses as well as a certificate. This award is not only a sign of success for the animals, but also an incentive for other hikers to remain loyal to nature and their own dogs.
Successor models in other regions
The interest in such interactive leisure activities is not limited to the Harz Mountains. Last year, the Solling-Vogler region launched a similar concept with the “Hiking Treasures” program, which includes 50 stamp points. Hikers who collect all the stamps in Solling have the opportunity to obtain the title “Wilder Hirsch”. This shows that the trend of stamp migration is taking hold throughout Germany.
The offering in the Harz and other regions not only encourages repeat visits, but also creates a living connection between people and animals in nature. The new dog stamp book is a creative step to get more people (and their dogs) excited about the beautiful hiking trails in the Harz.
