Magdeburg's departure: with power to the training camp in Bad Wörishofen!
1. FC Magdeburg made its way to Bad Wörishofen to prepare for the upcoming second division season during a nine-day training camp. This traditional community in the Allgäu, which has around 17,000 inhabitants, offers ideal conditions for intensive training. The club will stay in Bad Wörishofen until July 12th in order to optimally prepare for the challenges of the new season. As the Magdeburg football reports, Volksstimme and Magdeburg Blau-Weiß are also there to report on these important days.
On the first day of the training camp, four youngsters - Marcel Zajusch, Albert Millgramm, Magnus Baars and Nick Meier - were photographed getting to know the new addition Laurin Ulrich. The new physiotherapist Matthias Meinel was also full of enthusiasm. Fans had the opportunity to get autographs, with goalkeeper Dominik Reimann giving the first signatures. The focus was particularly on full-back Herbert Bockhorn, who can take full part in training again after tearing his cruciate ligament last year, but is suffering from brave taping.
Intensive training and innovations
Coach Christian Titz has made it clear that the intensity of the training will be significantly increased compared to previous weeks. The focus is on short movement sequences as well as football-specific content, such as sprinting behavior and both offensive and defensive tactics. The squad consists of 30 players, almost all of whom are fit. Mohammed El Hankouri, on the other hand, is training individually due to a torn syndesmotic ligament.
The team's journey began at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday and covered around 550 kilometers. The first training session took place on the day of arrival at 4 p.m. on the grounds of the local district league team FC Bad Wörishofen. Sports director Otmar Schork chose this location, happy that he had experience with Bad Wörishofen. The team stays in a comfortable 4-star superior hotel, which allows the players to have a good rest.
Test matches and further preparations
A highlight during the training camp will be the planned test match against FC Bayern II on Friday. This match not only offers the newcomers the chance to prove themselves, but also the young players like Elisio Widmann, who also wants to show themselves. Compared to previous years, FC Magdeburg has changed its training camp; The last few years were spent in Wesendorf and Fieberbrunn in Austria.
We are approaching the new second division season with a clear plan and strategy. The preparation trip is crucial - the first games in the 2nd Bundesliga are already on the weekend of August 2nd to 4th, followed by a DFB Cup opener on August 16th and 19th. The time in Bad Wörishofen will be crucial for 1. FC Magdeburg to start the season with fresh energy and well-trained.
