On August 11, 2025, the Chemnitz Theater reopened its doors after the summer break and welcomed two important new additions: Benjamin Reiners will be the new general music director and chief conductor of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic, while Christine Marquardt will take the helm as opera director. The Rudolf Kempe Orchestra Academy will also be celebrating a concert to mark its 20th anniversary on August 17th. On August 22nd and 25th, visitors can look forward to an opening concert of the music theater, where samples from new productions such as “The Flying Dutchman” and “Don Giovanni” will be presented.
