On Thursday, August 14, 2025, a modern digital information terminal was officially handed over in Großenhain. After around a year of preparation, the terminal was installed at the town hall, with planning taking place in coordination with various bodies, including the monument protection authority. This quickly gave the green light so that the location in front of the town hall can finally be transformed into a digital information center.
In his speech, Mayor Sven Mißbach emphasized that the information terminal represents a significant step towards modern and digital city information. This technical achievement is not only intended to promote current events, tourist offers and city services, but can also be used in disaster control. “Direct access to information in crisis situations could be crucial,” emphasized the mayor. Jens Baumgärtel, media consultant for Städte-Verlag, added that this terminal combines proximity to citizens and topicality.
