On Sunday, September 7th, 2025, the second edition of the popular horse-drawn tram will take place on the Döbelner Obermarkt. With eleven teams taking on the challenge, the event is twice as big as last year. This exciting event, organized by the traditional association Döbelner Pferdebahn e. V., promises a day full of action and communal fun.
From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. participants have the opportunity to put their skills to the test. The teams will pull the Döbelner horse-drawn tram for a time, with tactics, strategy and speed being required. The member of the state parliament for the region, Henning Homann, acts as patron and has donated a challenge cup for the winning team. This year, too, a special prize will be awarded for the most original overall performance - a great opportunity for the teams to receive additional praise for creativity.
A look back at the previous year
The previous competition, held in 2024, produced the team of the “Kenbukan” karate club, which won the title with an impressive speed of 10 to 11 km/h. Ralf Kruggel, a committed member of the club, returned the challenge cup on Thursday and then presented it again to the winning teams.
The Obermarkt in Döbeln will once again be a competition arena this year, and the anticipation is already palpable.
