Bad Düben starts vocational high school – future for health professions!
Bad Düben is facing an exciting innovation: from the next school year, the Evangelical School Center (ESZ) is planning to introduce a vocational high school with a focus on health and social services. School principal Doreen Model announced this promising project and underlined the importance of this educational institution for the region.
The new vocational high school will offer students in-depth training for a wide range of professional fields in nursing, therapy, social work, pedagogy and health management. Analogous to the information from the SRH Berufsgymnasium Dresden, graduates can submit their applications to all universities and colleges in Germany after graduating from high school. This has enormous advantages, as students can not only gain a degree, but also gain essential practical experience to gain a foothold in the professional world.
Perspectives and personal development
The introduction of this subject is part of a broader strategy at the ESZ, which already has a primary school, a high school and a high school. Managing director Gisbert Helbing sees the decision as a reaction to the current number of students of around 470 and the possibility of achieving additional growth. “Strengthening the region and making Bad Düben more attractive as a school location are high priorities for us,” explains Helbing. In addition to professional qualifications, the ESZ also places great emphasis on personal development and social responsibility.
The planned awarding of the vocational Abitur lasts three years after the 10th grade and opens the doors to a variety of opportunities for young people. In addition, a qualified teacher has already been hired for the new subject area. This will not only offer lessons, but also prepare students for their future careers in an interesting and practical way.
Partnerships for practical experiences
Real insights into the professional world are made possible through planned partnerships with regional clinics, care facilities and social providers. Such collaborations are crucial in offering students valuable internships and contact points for their professional orientation. This not only develops their professional expertise, but also promotes networking in the region.
On Saturday, November 9th, the ESZ invites you to an open day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested to visit the school building and get to know the SOUL educational concept and the GROW all-day program. At 11:30 a.m. there will also be an information event specifically about the vocational high school in the Albert Schweitzer Forum.
Back to health topics: The Health and Social Services department not only promotes professional orientation, but also ensures that future graduates are prepared for numerous professional sectors. This means that even after graduating from high school, they can open all doors, not only in the healthcare sector, but also in social professions and other sectors.
With this step, Bad Düben shows that they are not only thinking about the future of the students, but also about the well-being of the entire region. The educational path is being further strengthened, among other things, through structural changes such as the construction of a new gym and cafeteria. A careful but effective further development that is well received.
For anyone who still has questions, it is worth visiting the open day or taking part in the information event. Here, interested young people and their parents can not only find out more about the new opportunities, but also discover the wide range of offerings offered by the Evangelical School Center.
