Colorful bike tour: Discover the Altenburger Land on two wheels!
In Altenburger Land it is currently blooming in all colors, and the cyclists are enthusiastic about the living nature and the cultural treasures of the region. The moderator Steffi Peltzer-Büssow cycles towards the color frenzy on the national bike path of the "Thuringian City Chain". The route leads you past bright rapeseed yellow fields, a scenery that not only makes the heart of nature lovers beat faster.
The region has a lot to offer, and so Peltzer-Büssow also stops on its tour with Andrea Wagner and Frank Spieth's saffron cultivation, who brought this noble plant back to Altenburg. Formerly known as "Güldenene Aue", the path promises both culinary and cultural discoveries. On the way, the cyclists encounter carpathous buffalo in the Sprat-aue, and you cycle through picturesque villages with charming half-timbered houses.
A look behind the scenes
But not only the landscape is a highlight of the tour. Steffi also discovers the Schmöllner button traditions and the impressive salon culture at Posterstein Castle. Together with Frank Hübschmann, we continue, in the footsteps of bismuth from one support tower to the next, where the Ronneburg mining museum invites you to visit. The tour ends after 43 kilometers at the park railway in the Gera zoo, where relaxed hours are waiting for the tired legs of the cyclists.
The bike tour not only offers a picturesque experience, but is also suitable for families and is characterized by an average level of difficulty that takes into account both technical and fitness -related requirements. And don't worry, the journey is easy thanks to the good accessibility by train and bus. Thanks to the many refreshments, you can also enjoy the regional specialties.
