Complete closure of the B89 in Hildburghausen: diversions for four days!
There will be extensive road maintenance work in Hildburghausen from Monday, October 6th to Thursday, October 9th, which will result in a complete closure of federal highway 89 in the city center. This closure affects Dr.-Moritz-Mitzenheim-Straße, Brüder-Scholl-Straße and Dr.-Wilhelm-Külz-Straße. With the closure beginning on Monday morning at 9 a.m. until Thursday evening at 6 p.m., traffic will be rerouted, affecting the accessibility of various destinations in the city.
The Thuringian State Office for Construction and Transport (TLBV) scheduled the measures during the autumn school holidays in order to keep the disruption to traffic as low as possible. “The work depends on the weather conditions and construction progress,” explains a statement. The diversions for traffic are clearly defined: road users from Schleusingen are directed from the roundabout near the cemetery via Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße, Waldstraße and Rosengasse. The diversion from Weitersroda takes place via Kaltenbronner Weg to the B 89, while drivers from Eisfeld are redirected via Coburger Straße on the B 89 to Schleusingen via Kloster Veßra.
Accessibility during lockdown
During the total closure, the Regiomed Clinic can only be reached from the north. The stops at the Poliklinik Schleusinger Straße will not be served, and changes to the route of the city line will be announced on site. Pedestrians and cyclists must also expect disruption and should exercise increased caution in the construction site area.
Road users who are familiar with the area are advised to avoid Hildburghausen as much as possible, as longer travel times and significant disruptions in the city are to be expected. The closure also affects local traffic, which means that access to various facilities has to be adjusted: The center can be reached via Obere Marktstrasse, the police via Obere Allee, and the parking lot at the Feuerteich can be reached via Untere Kleinodsfeld.
Traffic monitored with fines
Although the leading road construction work in Hildburghausen demonstrates the urgency of fresh asphalt, other construction sites in the region are also drawing attention. For example, the A4 motorways in the direction of Erfurt-Vieselbach are currently closed until October 4th due to construction sites, which also causes disruption for impatient drivers. It remains to be hoped that the construction work in Hildburghausen will go smoothly and that the traffic situation will be defused as quickly as possible.
Careful planning on the part of those affected and a certain amount of patience could be crucial in the coming days in order to manage the diversion routes without stress and still reach your destination on time.
