Swim a lap day: Together for hospices in Thuringia!
On Tuesday, June 24th, it's that time again: At the “Swim a Lap Day” in the Einsiedel outdoor pool, the focus is on a good cause. The support association invites all swimming enthusiasts to collect donations together for three hospices in Thuringia. The event promises to be fun for the whole family and will help raise a sizeable sum of 4,000 euros for good causes.
The large-scale fundraising swim has an ambitious goal: a total of 400 kilometers should be achieved. One euro is donated for every 100-meter lap swum. To increase motivation, participants can expect various prizes. In the last edition, the best swimmer set an impressive record of 10.8 kilometers.
A program for young and old
The Einsiedel outdoor pool is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with free entry. Anyone who would like to take part can either register on site or online via the city of Zella-Mehlis website. In addition to the actual swimming, a colorful supporting program is also offered. This includes, among other things, yoga, stomach-legs-buttocks courses, football darts and a wheel of fortune. This ensures that there is something for everyone and also brings a good dose of fun.
Visitors can particularly look forward to the participation of prominent representatives. Teams from the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district office and the city of Zella-Mehlis are taking part. The incumbent mayor will also be present together with his predecessor and will actively participate with his company. The aim of this event is not only to have a wonderful family day, but also to provide valuable support for the hospice movement.
Hospice work requires a lot of support
The importance of hospice care cannot be overstated. The organizations that benefit from the event offer terminally ill adults and children a central point of contact for care and grief counseling. While health insurance companies cover a large part of the costs for inpatient care, additional financial resources and volunteer commitment are essential to maintaining the work. Johanniter also reports that donations are used specifically for the training of volunteers and specialized therapeutic materials.
The victims of this situation are usually the families of those affected, who often need support in the form of professional grief counseling. The children's hospice “Pusteblume” and the Johanniter Hospice in Bonn-Bad Godesberg offer valuable help to support relatives in difficult times. The event in Zella-Mehlis is therefore not just a sporting event, but also makes an active contribution to a very important cause.
